From a longtime Downtown coffee counter saying goodbye to new places to gather and a historic building heading to auction, several Memphis businesses and properties are entering a new chapter.

Here are six openings, closings and changes to know about as November begins. Planned openings are noted separately from businesses already operating.

CLOSING NOVEMBER 5: Humble Drip Coffee

Humble Drip Coffee, the café operating inside Sam’s Main Street Eatery in Downtown Memphis, plans to close after Thursday, November 5.

The business has served customers for more than two years. Its owner, Abdul Mustapha, is part of the family behind Sam’s Main Street Eatery.

Readers who want one final visit should confirm hours directly; the announcement concerns Humble Drip rather than a confirmed closing of the larger eatery.

PROPOSED: Another Dutch Bros Coffee on Poplar Avenue

Dutch Bros Coffee is looking at another Memphis location in a former Back Yard Burgers building on Poplar Avenue.

The development is a possibility under consideration, not a confirmed opening with a published date.

A new location could add another drive-through coffee choice, but prospective customers should wait for permitting and company announcements before making plans.

PLANNED FOR DECEMBER: Lou’s Lounge Opens to the Public

Lou’s Lounge in the South Main Arts District is preparing to welcome the public after serving as an informal private hangout for basketball players and their guests.

The venture is associated with Kevin Helms, known for his work in security for NBA players, and a remodeled building at 525 South Main Street.

Recent reporting describes a December public opening target, although other descriptions of the larger Lou’s hospitality project have used different opening dates for individual spaces.

Treat the public-opening timeline as planned rather than final until the venue confirms details.

CHANGING NOVEMBER 7–12: Hu. Hotel’s Bar Transition

Hu. Roof, the existing rooftop bar at Hu. Hotel, is scheduled for its final day on Saturday, November 7.

A new temporary ground-floor concept, Hu. Lobby, is scheduled to begin service Thursday, November 12, at 79 Madison Avenue.

The lobby venture involves Bar Limina founder Josh Conley and Ugly Art Co. founder Anderson Goin, while work continues on a permanent rooftop bar planned for 2027.

The hotel itself is not closing; this is a transition in its food-and-beverage offerings.

NEW CHEF: Fawn in Cooper-Young

Fawn, the restaurant at 937 Cooper Street that recently received a Michelin Guide recommendation, has named Walt Stallings its executive chef.

The change comes as Fawn continues developing its identity in the Cooper-Young dining scene after opening in 2025.

An acclaimed recommendation is recognition by the guide, not a claim that the restaurant received a Michelin star.

Diners can check the restaurant’s current menu and hours directly before visiting.

GOING TO AUCTION: The Frayser Bauhaus

A distinctive circa-1946 Bauhaus-style building at 3590 Thomas Street, along Highway 51 in Frayser, is scheduled for an online auction.

The former residence turned office building has seen portions of its original exterior restored in recent years.

According to published auction information, bids are due by noon on November 20.

An auction listing does not itself confirm a sale, new owner or redevelopment plan; those details will depend on the results.

What to watch next

The immediate dates are Humble Drip’s November 5 farewell and the Hu. Hotel bar transition on November 7 and November 12.

Later developments include Lou’s anticipated public debut, a possible Dutch Bros location and the Frayser auction, each of which still has details to confirm.

901 Daily will keep following verified business changes across Memphis without confusing proposals, announcements and completed openings.
